THE FORGING TECHNIQUE OF "FER A MODELER"

Our know-how is based on a synthesis of the best features of diverse traditional European forging techniques. Working with iron demands a lot of energy, both in fuel and in physical efforts.
 

In order to be efficient and economical, one has first of all to understand how to work quickly and optimise each hammer blow. Our technique puts the accent on the precision of the body movements and the right heating of the metal. We are also using light weight, ergonomic tools that are made of adequate steels so as not to harm the body while working. Our hammers weight only 1.3 kg, and their shape is distinctive.

 
All the above and more make working at the anvil within the reach of all interested. In order to teach our method we have divided its different elements into four modules of five days each, stages 1-4 in the program page. These can be topped by more specific courses such as :

-          Free-form working on the power hammer

-          Metal design

-          Making blacksmith’s tools

-          Restoration of old architectural iron works

The various exercises put into practice during our courses allow to easily acquire independence at the anvil and a good, holistic perception of the workshop’s routine.

Cette page vient compléter les conseils donnés pendant les stages et s'adresse principalement aux stagiaires désirant monter leur atelier.
Ceci va leur permettre d'adapter ces plans au local qu'ils possèdent et mettre en place, selon leurs besoins, soit un atelier simple et fonctionnel pour travailler de temps en temps, soit un atelier complet pour pouvoir fabriquer et vendre leurs réalisations en fer forgé.

L'équipe de l'école de forge "Fer à modeler" conseille et aide les stagiaires, qu'ils soient amateurs ou professionnels, à monter leur atelier de forge dans les meilleures conditions, ou à l'améliorer (contacts).

Nous leur apportons également notre aide pour le montage du dossier financier de leur projet en cas de création d'entreprise ou de remise à niveau.

Pour cela, nous mettons à disposition notre temps d'écoute, d'analyse, l'exemple de notre atelier et école, ainsi que nos conseils pour que nos stagiaires puissent concrétiser les enseignements appris lors de nos stages.
